Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice designed to deeply relax and release tension held in the subconscious and unconscious. This practice of pranayama (breath work), gentle asana and guided visualization restores balance to mind, body and spirit. Yoga Nidra quiets and calms the nervous system. One yoga nidra practice is equivalent to four hours of restful sleep! Research has also shown that Yoga Nidra can strengthen immune system, regulate blood pressure, balance nervous system and greatly help with insomnia.

While these practices are meant to be relaxing and restorative, in some cases they can release deeply seated emotions or be triggering. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us before registering.

Teacher Bio:
Melissa loves to share the transformative practice of yoga with others. She is a graduate of the 200 hr Yoga Works teacher training program and the 300 hr Ishta Yoga advanced teacher training. She is also certified in Trauma-Informed and Restorative Yoga. Melissa focuses on bringing yoga to underserved populations. She feels particularly grateful for the opportunity to bring the healing practice of yoga to prisoners through the Prison Yoga Project and to women who have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence through Exhale to Inhale. Off the mat Melissa is a Social Worker, Reiki Master and avid traveler.

Cancellation policy Workshop refund policy: up to 7 days in advance deposit will be refunded by check, less 15% processing fee per person; up to 2 days in advance deposit minus 15% processing fee will be credited to your studio account for use within 1 year of cancellation; less than 2 days in advance there will be no refund.

Each situation will be assessed individually, however by registering you agree to abide by these policies.
